Small animals - often passing unobserved - live in a meadow's tiny microcosm. Magical flight patterns, an infinite array of colors, and wondrous shapes characterize the creatures found in the extraordinary natural habitat of Monte Baldo. As they fly, so too move the clouds, blades of grass, and leaves on the trees. The film speaks of their destiny as it does the importance of every living thing, from birth to mating to death.

The Lessinia is testament to many forms of "sacrality", from the natural landscape, to signs of small capitals, churches, and crucifixes. We must recognize the fundamental value of beauty in the sacred in order to preserve it for the future.

In a time when dancing was considered a sin, a young girl from a rural village dancing on her own was akin to dancing with the devil himself. Told as part story/part fable, we learn about the traditions, beliefs, and behavior typical of the Lessinia mountains of a century ago.

Uncle Emilio, already an old man, has spent his entire life in the mountains. We see him working to clear the field of small branches when he is surprised by a dead tree found among robust ones, suggesting that all living things die, even as life goes on. This is confirmed by a child’s cry and the sound of work being done. Uncle Emilio comes to symbolize existence.
